So I decided to make it happen.

I started my Internet journey back before the Internet was the Internet - frequenting dial-up bulletin boards and the ever-enticing Compuserve. It was a glorious time of dial tones and disconnections, and of course, waiting.

I've always had some kind of Internet presence, be it dabbling in HTML 2.0 to host my own web-ring on the free hosting that came with our Powerup dialup plan, or running my own Multi-User Dungeon (MUD) on a spare computer we had after yet another upgrade. There was never any doubt that my career would end up surrounded by the Internet and all things technology; and so it was.

I started my career in IT Support while I finished my Software Engineering degree and then quickly moved through more senior network and systems administration roles into IT Management. After building an IT department from nothing, to 17 IT professionals and an annual budget of almost $6mil/year, I have recently taken a role as Enterprise Architect in a large business transformation.

Why do you need to know all this? Because I'm frustrated. I know technology - I know how to use technology to solve problems - I know how to design, build and run enterprise systems that can support $100mil organisations - and it frustrates me that these sorts of robust systems are only available to large corporations.

I've tried so many of the website hosting offerings out there for various projects I've worked on and have realised that most the options available to consumers are oversubscribed, underperform and falsely claim 99.95% uptime and daily backups; and of course do not deliver on any of this. I've had enough, so I've decided to do something about it.

I had a requirement to host a number of websites for small businesses that I've helped moonlighting from my day job. As a result, I've built a hosting environment with the rigour and process that I would any other enterprise-grade system; and now I've decided to make it available to the general public.

The goal here is not to become a billionaire, but to give people another option. One that focuses on quality, performance, integrity... one without lies. A hosting service that bring enterprise-grade capability to the consumer for a reasonable price.

Welcome to JM Tech.
